Villa Bologna Pottery and Cabana Magazine Join Forces with The Colony Hotel to Celebrate Heritage Design

The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach is a storied icon of elegance and charm, renowned for its vibrant history and impeccable design. The Colony has partnered with Cabana Magazine to design a Cabana Bungalow. When selecting design partners for the project, Villa Bologna Pottery stood out as a natural choice.

With over a century of heritage and craftsmanship our handcrafted ceramic lamps and wall sconces introduce a sophisticated artisanal flair to the space. Founded in 1924, Villa Bologna Pottery has spent the past 100 years of crafting ceramics, each lamp is made in our workshop in Malta by skilled artisans, reflecting a commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Like The Colony Hotel, we are a heritage brand with a legacy of creating pieces that marry functionality and beauty, making this collaboration a celebration of shared values and aesthetic excellence.

At the heart of the Cabana Bungalow are two standout lighting pieces from Villa Bologna Pottery: the Amphora Lamp and the Dolphin Wall Light. The Amphora Lamp, designed by Suzanne Sharp, captures timeless elegance with its classic amphora silhouette and creamy, neutral tones. Meanwhile, the Dolphin Wall Light draws inspiration from the enchanting Dolphin Pond in Villa Bologna’s baroque gardens. These graceful creatures, once featured on Malta's coat of arms, reflect both cultural heritage and a sense of whimsy. These two lighting designs perfectly complement the Cabana Bungalow’s blend of classic elegance and eclectic charm, adding warmth and sophistication to the space.

Beyond the Cabana collaboration, Villa Bologna Pottery’s lighting collection has some timeless iconic pieces . Our iconic Pineapple Lamp, designed in the 1970s, remains a favourite. Each lamp, crowned with handcrafted leaves, is a testament to our artisans’ dedication, taking two weeks to create using four separate moulds. The Dolphin Lamp, designed in the 1950’s, is another signature piece, Its graceful design pays homage to the elegant dolphins that have long been a symbol of Malta’s rich heritage.

This year, we are excited to introduce new designs to our lighting collection, including a collaboration with Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay. These additions reflect our ongoing commitment to innovation and craftsmanship, ensuring Villa Bologna Pottery remains synonymous with timeless, handcrafted beauty for generations to come.
