Prickly pear plants, with their delicious jewel-like fruit, are much loved in Malta, where they grow in generous clumps in the countryside before being harvested in late summer for jam and juice. Our egg cup, an homage to the spiny cacti, can be used to bring a bit of summer sunshine to any alfresco tablescape.
